Obviously here I have drawn the movie American Beauty, which I have never seen before this project began. I personally struggled with this project because I don't have much experience producing books nor do I naturally work with mixed media being a design major. I chose not to go with a typical book "form" instead I found a stainless steel canaster that reminded me of a film canaster. Every other screen shot is colored and the opposites are black and white. Each black and white has an element of roses, as roses were a continuous theme throughout the movie, seeing them in almost each scene of the movie. Along with the captions I put with each image the roses and their placement represent the focus of that particular shot to help emphasis where we are and what the emotions are in that part of the story. The final page has a single large rose and india inked "blood" like splatters, mirroring Kevin Spacey being shot through the head with the evidence being on the tile kitchen wall.

American Beauty Story Book-2D Design Final Project

Mixed Media Method 1. Translucent brown tape scenes by Mark Khaisman. Layers layer after layer of tape over plexiglass to create these rustic illustrations. Retro and Mysterious.

Mixed Media Method 2. Fabric Image Transfer. Print out your image on the rough side of an inkjet transparency. Iron the recieving cloth if necessary. Apply a thin but thorough layer of polymer gloss to the fabric. It may be slippery so hold your image down then remove.

Here I found an interesting way of creating a story book through continueing photographs and nothing else. I love that it doesn't include any text whatsoever.

As seen above cleary there are many styles of modge podge and here I only have shown 2..vintage or modern?? which do you like!? Modge podge being one of the mixed media techniques I chose to represent an example for.

Mixed Media Artist 1. Mikel Robinson. Mikel works (seen above) with light to illuminate both the phsyical and emotional darkness of this world. For him, light is more than a mechanical means of manipulation-it is literally a way to illuminate and explore the dark corners of the human experience. He has been creating mixed media works for 20 years now. He began using light to illuminate pieces once he discovered an immediate connection with his audience. - I love the effortless, vintage vibe Mikel's artwork gives us. It's almost haunting although he believes it is very "light"..I think if i entered an installation of his I'd both be in awe and covered in goosebumps. That is nice and a refreshing excitement for me!

Mixed Media Artst 2. I took a look at 2 Designer/Artists using mixed media in their current works, starting with J.M. Culver- She is an emerging figurative artist working with on narrative and abstraction. J.M. mainly focuses on drawing and painting. She came from North Carolina to the College of Art and Design in Minneapolis- I really get intriqued by her dark, simplistic pieces in all different medias. I discovered her through her photo callagues though.

Environmental Design 102 presentation critique was very insightful for me. It is one thing to go through the semester hearing about your fellow classmates work and ideas, to seeing their “life on the line” or in this case, final design and board on the critique wall. I saw a huge range in the talent I saw, and finally everyone’s ideas and concepts either came to live and inspired or did not. Listening to each presenter, their techniques of presentation and the critique given back in return helps me to better my project and presentation. In a way, going 3^rd to last did not turn out to be so bad after all. Yes, it was nerve racking but when I stood up to present I knew how I would handle the presentation and feedback. Not only does listening to 40 presentations better help me understand each person’s way of design, but I can learn professionalism and different presentation tactics. Some chose to read off flash cards to organize their thoughts while others just winged it. I think it all depends on your every day personality and how you can most successfully express your thoughts. Another big lesson in beginning to present is how to respond to critique. Overall having the right attitude towards criticism can be challenging, when you like your ideas so much you do not want to hear any different. Some of us I think handled negative critique very well, responding in ways that lets our responder know we appreciate their opinions and will truly take them to heart even if we might not agree. Behind every critique, no matter how ridiculous it may seem to us, has something valuable we can take from it. It begins to widen our thoughts and turn us into overall well rounded professionals.

After the first day of critiques I began thinking about my presentation and my process of expressing my design. I started by making a list of everything I wanted to include in my 5 minutes of fame and from there, I articulated the words to make the audience interested in my story. I timed myself rehearsing my presentation and although with my nerves, some of what I had planned to say probably went out the window, I think it helped me prepare for my turn. My goal was to speak with confidence in what my work showed, my style, my client and my ideas. Owning up to my thoughts of the space, whether they were right or wrong was definitely a huge factor in my presentation. I received really great criticism, overall a positive attitude towards my hard work and final product and eyes that seemed to keep, wanting to look at my work. That is a huge accomplishment to me, along with being unique even if my ideas fail, people will always remember my approach and detail within my projects and presentations.

Artist Loft-Loading Dock Space March/April 2010- Environmental Design 102

Shawn's personal painting style is very dark, eerie and kind of disturbing in some pieces, however he carries this messed, wiped, dripped style that you can clearly see through my super graphic. When I researched his studio space I found it very minimal, light walls with dark accents and when I think of the essence he gives to his viewers, the contrast between dark and light is very apparent as well as natural and rough materials which you can see through the space’s wood and cement sections. The main goal was to give Shawn a very lit studio, so I have added many windows along the north and east walls to provide that for him, also the large garage door allowing him to open and close his studio to the outdoors and fresh air. The studio space I left very open and versatile so he can customize it the way he wants. I have added shelving and rods to mount rolls of canvas as well as a table that can open to cut canvas, I have also placed moveable easels and the cement floor acts as a great way to catch the dripped paint. I have added a small visiting area and kitchen/dining area for 1 or 2 people to comfortably eat. To lessen the energy use and save space of the studio I have made the dining table into refrigerator drawers. Iron screens act as a separation between the living and studio space while allowing light to flow through the space. As you walk upstairs you will find a small bathroom and bedroom, meant and designed for exactly that, rest and an escape from the paint fumes. I have a custom made closet/shelving area that acts as storage for the bathroom, divided in half by a frost glass sheet. Throughout the space I tried to introduce rectangles like I have rectangle panes of glass in the windows and doors I tried to incorporate that into the iron screens, cupboards, shelving etc. The space I hope will represent as easily interchangeable living/studio interior, appropriate for multiple types of artists that might want to visit the Gatewood building. Simplistic, warm, and rustically chic is the vibe it gives me.

Class was divided into two large groups, my group received the "Loading Dock" on the ground level of Gatewood Studio. Our job, is to develop a proposal for an Artist in a Residential studio for any visiting designer or artist. We can choose to either focus on one particular type of artist or choose to fit the overall needs of an artist of any media. I, knowing a few very influential painters decided to create a space for a painter however it could really fit the needs of anyone. Shawn Barber stood out to me with his dark, dirty style of painting. He uses a lot of dark shades and great contrast in his portraits. He really does capture the essence I would want to as a painter myself. I like the way his paintings melt towards the edges of the canvas and the faces feel like real expressions and personalities.

I found a couple videos of Shawn working in his studio space in California, white walls, cluttered supplies, nothing extravagant or shiny there. I searched for some inspiration pictures of lofts, kitchens and living spaces using original ducts, wood and rough materials. My goal is to make the studio space unbiased. I hope it will not have one set feeling when you look at it, I want it to look sturdy and strong but rustic and clean/simple. This is what I have so far. Below you will see a series of perspective "ideas" for the space as well as the wall elevations and floor plan of the existing room. You will also see some of Shawn Barber's works of art, hopefully you can begin to see the space and environment appropriate to my scheme.

Scavenger Hunt Clues 5, 6, and 7-Pimp My Ride

One of my best friend Abby and I made a deal that we would one day save our pennies and road trip across the country together in some type of rv/bus/huuuuuuge vehicle. A "short bus" seems appropriate for our personalities. Completed with ballet accents, the fun that made us meet and become so close, our road trip is taken to an entirely new level. I used marker and colored pencil, next time i would make the assemble lighter and cleaner, hahaa but in this case i think it matches our personalities better.

Scavenger Hunt Clues 2,3 and 4

Here in clue 2 we chose an object, dissected, examined and sketch parts and forms from that object. I chose a clear tubing left over from a previous project that was partly cut open and damaged. From my set of 25 thumbnails I chose 3 patterns that stood out to me and from there experimented with different shades in my reading space. I'm a little bit limited when it comes to shades so bare with me as the color choses are my favorite either.

I started sketching this view in a time of stress and anxiousness, i really did not care how it looks unless it was done and although it may look unfinished. it represents the uncertainty when i walk through campus. I do not know where i will be or when i will be there, but i know this sketch will remind me of this exact emotion of this time in my life.

We draq ourselves to this structure on the daily. Huffing and puffing only to pace in the steamy elevator. The decent down "The Hill" is so sweet...we know it means meal time before we return right after....just for more work. Our butts' are looking fine however

Falling Water & UVA 4/12/10- Environmental Design 102

It was really thrilling to see falling water. It better suited the styles and personalities of me and my classmates, probably because it is a more recent model of contemporary architecture and the nature and serenity hit us as soon as we stepped onto the site of Falling Water. Again Frank Lloyd Wright was a very inspiring designer and He began a lot of new ideas about materials, structure and a sense of home. Wright main focus was connecting nature with interiors and this great example, it is clearly expressed. Falling Water is certainly a place each of us could see ourselves living, relaxing and enjoying.

The University of Virginia was a stop on our list as the bus made it's way from state to state. Also having been designed and begun by Thomas Jefferson, UVA started as a small college in a small, beautiful town and now has grown to a very historic, famous example of the importance of education reinforced through architecture.

Monticello, Richmond VA 4/11/10

For just under 48 hours 50 first years as well as some of our awesome teachers and upper level classmates bused to Monticello to see Thomas Jefferson's brilliant design and place of residence. It was a lot of fun to see in person some of the historic and famous places we have learned about in History and Theory of Design and also spaces that influence today's design wether it be subtly or a very close replication. It was a beautiful day to photograph Monticello and tour the house and grounds. Jefferson was a very inventive architect, can't give away his secrets so you should just see it yourself!

Quad/Tennis Court Perspective- 4/8/10

Coming and leaving campus each time I travel I always admire the Quad/Tennis court area of campus from Aycock Street. I enjoy our brick/historical/colonial feel to campus and those longest lasting beginning of campus always intrigue me the most. I took pictures of campus last fall to show my family back home and here I chose one to draw in perspective. Although the trees cover up a lot of the dorms I think you still can get a feel for UNCG and it's flavor, unity and wholeness in architecture.

After we all ordered and tested out our first sets of markers, we started playing around with some fun furniture. Our assignment was to choose 3 furniture items and practice rendering them, taking notes on what works and what does not. I am VERY happy with how my grey geometric chair turned out, it's edgy and I spent the greatest amount of time on capturing the right shadows and shades of grey. One I had a bit of trouble with was the orange chair. Trying to find the right colored pencils to shade areas of the chair was difficult to get right. Overall I think darker pieces of furniture are easy to render because you cannot see all the little places where the detail is not spot on, but it works.

In this assignment we were to record moments within our assigned building. The thumbnails should walk viewers through your space, aiding in their understanding of its design and layout.
I explored my space from a variety of vantage points as you can see above.

Above my Mossman thumbnails you will find our "Divide and Conquer" assignment. Basically we were to choose 5 perspective images drawn in 5 different styles we admire, study how we could incorporate particular techniques to further enhance our thumbnail views.

Within groups we further explored the Mossman building here on campus by diagraming. I was personally assigned to the "Landscape Diagram", trying to capture a footprint and the context neighboring the building like trees, sidewalks, streets etc. I learned a lot about control with this diagram. I found that less is more and instead of color the crap out of my diagram, it would be best to be subtle. If I could redo my diagram, I would most likely fade out the picture and use more neutral tones (however these were the colors my group decided on). Other then the fact that it looks like a 5 year old did it, I think it well expresses the surroundings of Mossman and if you were to suddonly step onto the grounds around the building you might just know where you are and what is around you.

Finally, in our building groups we made presentation boards consisting of two large diagrams of our choice, 3 perspective drawings from each group member and one thumbnail from each person as well. We based our color scheme around the color palette we chose for our diagrams, red, yellow, orange and green. We always brainstormed ways to express the basic function of the Mossman building itself, to guide and lead college students in all their academic and financial needs. We related this to Minerva, one of UNCG's founding inspirations, the Roman goddess of wisdom and knowledge. Our composition layout of the board was intended to mimic the layout of Mossman, placing the diagrams as the cubes of the building which were largest and so on.

In the window space provided for us, we were to create 2 moments of light defined space with the material provided (Cardboard) and no more than 2 other materials of our choice. The composition should be no deeper than the window frame and must consider the entire space of the window. We were to create a system that uses only friction, no adhesives or mechanical fasteners to keep composition in place.

My desk window is side by side to three others forming a perfect square. Abigail, Kacie, Jenni and I naturally teamed up together after part of the project's objective was to relate to the surrounding windows in our space. We were inspired initially from the top photo on this post. We were entriqued by the rectangular and square patterns as well as the individual patterns within those shapes. We took on the task of replicating these geometric shapes right away. Our first full scale was composed of three sided boxes, taped and put together to entirely fill each window. The craft was not quite up to par and we didn't care for the open spaces you could see from the side angles viewing the windows.

Our second and final window models were completely reconstructed out of 5 sided boxes, suraded at the fold and hot glued on the edges to assemble them. This method was much more affective in showing our two moments of light, those being the negative space randomly placed between shapes and the shadow those spaces have on the surrounding boxes. Another light affect that was later discovered is how the artificial lighting on the inside of Gatewood plays on the geometric extrusions and the golden light that shines through the grained edges of the boxes.

Create a Ritual--2-1-10 Environmental Design

Our assignment was to use an object of our choice, write a ritual and create two more accessories to go with your object. Your objects and their relationships should be part of the creation and performance of the ritual. Your objects should not be 'illustrations' of the ritual.

To me, a lot of ritual meaning lies within words, these words help support my faith and positivity in life. One way in which I receive this “refreshment” is in the writings and doodles from my boyfriend Erik. They are a huge source of comfort to me. Anticipating these letters is one of the most enjoyable things to me, opening my mailbox and reading through his goofy or serious poems is one of my favorite rituals. Even more importantly, it is critical to me to keep my letters safe and protected, to always look back on as well as remind me of the care and talent for others I always aspire to have.

Project Analysis and Process

My Ritual experience objects are comprised of wood and my chosen second material, paper. I began my design ideas by thinking and sketching out multiple thumbnails of some of my most used and most sentimental personal belongings. My letter’s spoke to me more than just any simplistic ritual such as a daily ritual for any common person. I am certain I am the only student who chose their boyfriend’s letters, that is always my goal to do something close to my heart and different than anyone else.

Thinking about what could “accessorize” my letters was somewhat difficult for me, I did not want to create anything too literal. However, in the process of receiving letters how I do, a mailbox is a large part of my ritual. Therefore, it seemed fitting to start brainstorming the approach of making a personalized mailbox.

My final mailbox is made solely of birch wood, and one hinge. It is shaped identically to my mailbox here at school for obvious reasons. I chose to paint it black, as well as attaching a small square piece of extra wood to the front door to act as a handle. A simple 10x5 rectangular storage box was the outcome. I can set it on my desk or shelf for safe-keeping.

In my second constructed object I wanted to emphasize the feeling of emotion and personality more than support and modernism. I found a beautiful, thick green and black paper that reminded me of Erik. Once I found this “special” paper, it inspired me to make a personalize envelope for later viewings of my letter. The paper and letters are folded in threes and safely kept neat and flat by a rectangular 8 ½ x 3 1/2 wood plate. The letters are bound to the board and decoratively held together by silver ribbon woven through small holes in the wood and papers. It is knotted together to secure their position and it consists of knotted loops to enclose the entire ensemble on the outside of the envelope. This envelope is meant to rest inside my mailbox shelf as part of the ritual I am trying to portray.

In conclusion, looking back on my Ritual objects as a whole, I may have done a few things differently. I might have experimented a bit with easier ways to close the envelope as well as maybe a more edgy looking mailbox design. However, I am very satisfied with the outcome of my project. I believe it deserves at least a B. It is constructed with much care and very neat to look at. My object relate in my opinion just as was stated they should when the project was first introduced. Although the ideas for my ritual object came quite quickly I do not necessarily mean I didn’t put enough work into it. I think it shows that I was inspired and knew exactly how to express what message I was trying to get across to the viewers. I estimate that I put approximately 60+ hours into this particular project, which I think it appropriate considering that my second material was not a very time consuming one. This estimation includes brainstorming, material shopping, sketching, discussing with fellow students, time in the woodshop and studio after hours drawing and crafting my design.

I'm extremely proud of how my first watercolor came out! I chose to make the right have look intentional with the face of Abigail being right above Jacklyn's shirt...I was going to continue on the left side with an arm but no one had accessories I wanted to draw. I chose Kacie's necklace..the color palette draws all the accessories together very well I think.

Illuminated Objects- Design Visualization-01-21-10

For this small assignment we each chose 5 artifacts from studio or home that have importance to us. We were allowed one color and only black pens. In my composition I picked my dance sculpture, bible verses, my ring, "Dance with Me" sign, and music in general to show my love for expression and faith.

Layout: Layout is very important in any ensemble. It automatically makes whatever it may be, visually pleasing to anyone even if you don't like what someone is portraying with their layout. Choosing similar color, text, and content is all including in the overall layout and without fluidity, your work will be a mess to the eye.

Color: Choosing color can change the mood of your presentation very easily. First picking what feeling you are trying to put across and then pick colors that help you feel that way. For example if you pick dark, deep colors ...people are more likely to think it looks stiff and serious. However, choosing brights would add interest and contrast as well as a happy mood!

Text: BIG, bold letters will definitely grab the attention of the onlooking, however is that what you want to stand out in your presentation? Maybe not. The size, style, and color of your text is critical to showing either the key points or hiding the words and letting other parts of the presentation stand out as the focus.

Hierarchy: The way in which you arrange the different parts or pieces to your project may make or break the over successfulness. Try not to make the eye dart from space to space, but instead flow from picture to picture, drawing to drawing etc. It will make the reader want to read or look at more and it'll help avoid a headache.

Luminescence Expressive Drawing 11-20-09 -Environmental Design 101

...Some brainstorming ideas for my "Expressive" drawing of my Luminary, the next step. With certain guidlines to follow such as paper type/color, drawing utensils (3 colors only) and size...it was time to get creative with a composition that compliments my Luminary. I chose Indigo Blue Canson paper and purple, yellow and orange pastels that nicely resembles the light, shadow and shapes of my field of light and lighting structure itself.

Luminescence Final Model- Environmental Design 102

...This is my second and final "Luminescence" model. I made quite a few adjustments to my construction this time. I chose to Double the size of the lamp so the light bulb itself could sit high enough above the colored cut outs to give off a definite pattern of shapes on the surface it is hung. Also I lined the inside with black construction paper to block out the light, focusing almost all of it on the light source coming out of the bottom. I covered the seems where the plastic pieces attach to make it more unified.

Overall, I love what I did and I am very proud of the product I produced. This lamp isn't intended for a specific place in a house or hovering over a certain piece of furniture. But it is meant to be displayed so the field of light is at it's finest, whether that be sitting on something or being hung, the choice is yours. However, we were to include our Luminaere in our "Lake House" designs for our IAR 110 class. I chose the young boys room, hung over the dresser. The light affect and colors of the lamp went best with his bedroom and the essence it was already portraying. Fun and young but soffisticated enough for a 12 year old boy.

Luminescence-Continued

This is my first ideation of my Luminaire. I was inspired by kaleidescopes. It's built mainly of plastic parts i found in two bird feeders, binder dividers, and bristol board as the cover. As it was tested numerous times, we came to the conclusion that the "field" of light it gives off isn't quite strong enough so I'm currently putting the finishing touches on a new model. I love the light that shines through the plastic however that doesn't leave a strong enough stream of light for the reflection on the surface to be noticeable enough.

I am finding this project difficult to be honest. The limits are endless and the guidelines are so vague that my mind goes everywhere when brainstorming for this particular project. Also I'm not familiar working with lights and electricity so this should be interesting! My main inspiration right now for "Luminescence" is a kaleidoscope. The multi-colored glass and the affect is has on whatever it is shining. We were asked to research different forms of lighting, natural and unnatural such as a sunrise, sunset, spotlight, nightlight, shadow, contrast, color, starlight etc. As I explored different photographs, some I have taken and others not...I have looked for a lot of different colors and glow in the field of light which I think resembles a kaleidoscope very well.

Next time I practice my perspective drawings I will pick spaces with more objects in them. They were hard to find and also be narrow enough to locate a vanishing point.

Dialog Critique and Comparison 10-30-09

Two dialog structures stood out to me. They do not carry the typical "square" structure that is common among a lot of us first years, but delicate, soft, caccoon like spaces. In Dajana's "Dialog" [her keywords being, "Fit Together" "Surround" and "Dialog", the folding of the cards are flowing and never ending in both her base and spaces. She had created one whole circular space that divides itself by a set of linear skewers. While the Carlie's project "Diamond Tree House", she has two separated circles that are unified through the similarity of the folding, angles, and proportion. Carlie's base adds a nice contrast in color and texture. Though I do not know her mind set behind it, it works in my mind. Both projects are easy on the eyes. To me, they seem dream like and wispy though the materials themselves are sharp and harsh. Instead of knowing and seeing what is in front of me, I see both Dialogs as representing many different things, creating many stories and ideas.

Using the same materials at the "Unity" project (12 rods and 12 planes) we were asked to "Create two distinct spaces that relate to one another in a mutually supportive way. In seeking this dialog, explore dualities of solid and void, front and back, in and out, orthogonal and diagonal, etc. Let the construction vocabulary reinforce and articulate your ideas about form."

This "Exploding Cube" is my first ideation. The idea is to give the illusion of a "perfect" cube in the center and an exploding cube formation surrounding and extruding from the center. The Skewers support the disappearing process of the cube "parts" and they in themselves create a successful space. I haven't decided what the base should be, any suggestions are much appreciated. It should deal with spaces in itself without breaking the rules and adding actual spaces. Only 2 are allowed.

My second ideation is photographed in the top 6 pictures. The changes I made are slight. I added a foam core base which i placed my "Dialog" project in the corner to add interest. I also changed the location and and joinery of a few of my extruding "cube" pieces. Above those pictures I have my orthographic drawings. A plan view, left elevation, front elevation and section elevation are included. I chose to draw them in pen to help them stand out against the black backround. I created dialog by using skewers to attach my separate drawings. I free handed the title which I wouldn't normally do but with it being titled "Essence and Accident" I thought it was appropriate.

"Unity implies oneness or singularity of purpose, but the interesting thing is that it also implies that there is more than one element in the unifying process and that the elements are different in some way. Designing entails seek strategies for unifying elements into a whole, while at the same time celebrating the differences that help us to identify the parts of the whole."

ideation: 12 rods, 12 planes (4x6) on an 12x12 base. [Explore unities of opposites, linear/planar, solid/void, up/down, left/right, in/out, thick/thin]
descriptive drawing: describe assemblage with plan, 2 elevations, perspective view & 3-D
graphic: using magazine images, text, texture, and colors make a parti for your assemblage 12x12 format.

I initially thought of a family tree when brainstorming for this project. Family is on my mind constantly going to school 21 hours from home so that is my inspiration for a lot of design. I chose cork for my base which I layered and ripped to resemble the earth/tree trunk/tree roots. My branches are purposefully wide and outward to "cradle" the leaves. It relates to a family cradling memories, love, and each other. I wet and crumpled bristol board rectangles which I attached to give the "tree" itself a soft, floating appearance which contrasts with the sharp drunk/branches in color and texture. I based my parti on family, texture, lines and curves, representing my abstract tree.

This is a multi-view composition of one 3-D model inspired by my "Sticks and Cell Phone" drawings. The pictures below the dividing line are my first set of drawings and my second, improved set are above. I changed the arrangement of my different views, adding one detail in the top left corner. This time around I think it looks much cleaner and representative of my project.

I produced 4 3-D models based off my "Sticks and Cell Phones" final 4 drawings. I explored negative space that related to my sketches. One way it could be more successful is by adding black paper, which would add contrast and depth to each sculpture.

I created my "Cube" to look off centered and tilting. The tab technique I chose replicates the roundness of the straws used for the tower stand and also the base.

1. The assignment was to create a 4x4 cube with one open end, made in white bristol board, articulating the edges to aid assembly and design intent.
2. Design an integral structure made from plastic straws that positions the cube four inches above an eight inch base.

Design a container for a special object using paper, fabric and thread of your choice.
I constructed a protector for the purity ring my Mom gave me. The pink fabric represents the my baby blanket from my Mom. I chose the white, delicate fabric because it reminds me of her soft, caring personality. It was suggested to me to make a flap to close the "pocket". But I decided against it because I felt it detracted from the threading detail I created. Instead, I made it tight enough to hold the ring securely.

We each drew the Foust building here on campus at UNCG as practice for Contour Drawing. We were to focus on the lines and angles, and no shading whatsoever. I found this difficult mainly because the building is so huge and finding a place to view the entire image was challenging. I think it is a beautiful building, very historic and important to our campus. Hopefully people can look at my sketch and recognize that they are seeing.

find two natural artifacts and join them using a linear material (string, thread, wire...) as a binding agent.

I focused more on color and texture for my first project. I love the contrast between the delicate light appearance of the flower with the spiky nuetral color and feel of the wheat looking plant. They both have similar lines that compliment each other. The sharpness of the wheat mirror the pink middle of the flower.

My favorite blog would have to be wagonized.typepad.com. I love the great detail and shadowing of France Belleville's work. I especially find the portraits of the children and animals very real and emotionally moving. Something about their eyes and the feeling behind them touches me. It makes me want to pick up a pencil and draw. If I can ever have that affect on somebody, I will be truly happy.
